Maintaining the cleanliness of your business can seem daunting. It can be tempting to hold off on daily cleaning until the pros come in. However, there are a few steps you can take every day to ensure your business is as clean as possible for your employees and customers.
Wipe down any areas that are handled a lot each day.
Unsurprisingly, the spaces in an office that harbor the most bacteria are the ones that get touched the most. According to an article by the Huffington Post, some of the dirtiest places in the office are the community copier, coffee pot, and door knobs/handles. Going over these areas with a disinfectant spray or wipe takes very little time and can greatly reduce the spread of germs.
Make the breakroom a daily cleaning priority.
Between the coffee pot, microwave, and inevitable crumbs and spills, the breakroom can get dirty quickly. Do a sweep at the end of the day to make sure everything is tidy and clean. Throw out any trash, and wipe down any hard surfaces you can.
Don’t forget to take out the trash!
Chances are, you probably don’t go through a ton of trash as a business. Still, making sure the trash cans are empty at the end of the day is always a good idea. It doesn’t take a lot of time, and it significantly decreases bacteria growth.
Keep desks organized.
Part of maintaining a clean environment is staying organized. When things get busy at the office, it’s easy to leave things out that should be put away. Papers can pile up, and before you know it, your employees’ desks can be crowded with clutter. Encourage your team to take five minutes at the end of the day to make sure everything is in its proper place.
These ideas can’t replace professional cleaning, but they can help with upkeep between services. When something is already cleaned, people are more inclined to keep it that way. These easy, quick tasks can greatly increase the overall cleanliness of your office.
